Hedonism
Hedonism stands in direct opposition to what makes a nation or individual great. Hedonism ridicules the fuzzy nerd dud dudes of self discipline. Hedonism is one of the causes of the destruction of our environment. We have an addiction to hedonism: it is in our DNA. We need change of mindset. We need rehabilitation. Necessity is the Mother intervention (NMI).
“Fantasy gives meaning to suffering” Yuval Harri page 304. We are conned into believing (fantasy) that hedonism (abundance/greed = gourmet food, luxury cars, schools, churches and homes are good (envious) for us (the world) in-spite of our suffering and wasted resources caused by hedonism. We cannot or will not accept that we made a mistake after all of the years of sacrificing (suffering) to obtain hedonism.
The leadership of all forms of government and religions promote hedonism. It is the behavior not the words that reveals the truth. Words (spoken or written) are the con, the propaganda, the fantasy. We got ours: let’s smugly believe and promote thereby wastefully getting more and more. No end in sight yet; mmm well, for some hedonism has caused the end to have happened. Mother Nature’s pristine abundance is to be wisely preserved, not wastefully distainly exploited
Note: Hedonism is one thing, and wisely providing for the future is another thing. World leadership of religions and corporations keep us in a state of fear, a confused craving state of mind that religions and corporations prey upon to gain wealth and control. What percentage of life in huge cities is composed of hedonism, waste and insecurity?
David did not speak of abundance; he spoke of discipline via storing/saving (Saving is not sinful; it is rational adult behavior.) extra grain to make the future safe. There was no preaching of individual abundant lifestyles. He spoke of protecting the community from hunger, fear and fighting. He knew storing grain had to be a community project; otherwise, the evil ones would prey on the workers because they have always done it. David knew it would be socialism for the rich and capitalism for the workers.
Dictators love communism (concentrates power and wealth); it is even better for them than capitalism. Capitalism and socialism are a young married couple in a love/hate relationship who have not yet learned how to beneficially, peacefully and joyfully live. Thank you, David.
